Business & Financial Studies

We consider financial literacy to be a crucial life skill and therefore Personal Finance is taught throughout the school. Pupils learn how to make the most of their money whilst avoiding debt, and about money management solutions. Thames Christian College is one of the first schools in the country to make Personal Finance a core GCSE subject.

The study of Business Studies at GCSE adds a further dimension, with the introduction of economics and business ownership, aims, objectives, marketing and law.

Personal Finance is an essential subject for youngsters if they are going to make the most of their money and avoid the mis-selling and debt traps suffered by many of their parents’ generation.

writes Sylvia Morris, in the Daily Mail’s Money Matters, September 2006

Ofsted, September 2007

"Outstanding practice in professional development ensures that teachers have good subject knowledge and are fully acquainted with current educational initiatives."
