English & DramaEnglish is the platform from which all learning occurs. Mastery of English is critical as it is the building block of all other subjects. Pupils are taught to express themselves clearly both verbally and in a variety of writing styles. We stress the need for the correct use of grammatical structures and actively promote creative writing. Literature is studied from many genres and periods. The ability to speak confidently in public is the norm for all our pupils, both in classroom debates and in front of a wider audience. Drama is an integral part of the curriculum and a popular choice at GCSE. Opportunities for pupils to perform occur regularly, both in small groups and in larger productions. Pupils have successfully auditioned for the National Youth Theatre. |

A talented actor, artist and writer, David achieved As in Drama, English, English Literature, Art and Religious Studies and a B in ICT. David scored 100% in his examined Drama performance, confirming his exceptional talent. David hopes to be a professional writer one day and has gained a place at the Brit School to study Theatre and English Literature. He has played lead roles in recent school productions including Pyramus in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Faithful in 
Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress.
