Gifted & Talented

We aim to develop and stretch all our pupils, including those who are especially talented or gifted in a subject. Teaching is differentiated so no individual is held back by another, providing the opportunity to study beyond what is expected of their age level and to take GCSE exams early if appropriate, after which they can go on to take AS levels in Year 11.

Pupils take part in competitions such as the UK Mathematics Challenge, the Newsday Competition and the Young Business Writer of the Year.

Misha's Story

Misha has always been gifted at Maths, and completed her Maths GCSE in Year 10, easily achieving an A* grade.  Misha leaves Thames with a total of 6 A* grades in English, English Literature, Maths, Chemistry, Spanish and Religious Studies and 3 A grades. Misha has gone on to James Alleyns Girls School for her A levels. Misha has received Gold Awards in the UK Maths Challenge over her time at Thames and was a member of the National Academy of Gifted and Talented Youth.
