We aim to foster an enjoyment and fluency in Mathematics, leading to success and confidence in this vital subject. Problem-solving and critical thinking strategies are interwoven into the Mathematics syllabus, developing the pupils' ability to think independently.

Some of our gifted pupils study Additional Maths AS (a Level 3 qualification) in Year 11. Pupils regularly take part in the UK Maths Challenge which stimulates interest in Maths and tests pupils' reasoning and mental agility. Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded to top performers and many Thames pupils have attained these medals over the years.

Emma's Story

Emma was gifted in many subjects and her hard work resulted in her attaining A*s in Maths (scoring 100% in each of the three modules), English, English Literature, Science, Personal Finance, History and Art, and As in Spanish and Religious Studies. She was a keen member of the Charity Club, raising money for many good causes. Emma is now studying for the International Baccalaureate instead of A Levels and eventually wants a career in graphics/computer games design.

The school has been sufficiently flexible to enable my son to take his Maths GCSE in Year 10, where he achieved an A*. He is now studying for his Maths AS a year early.
