Physical Education

A varied, balanced and challenging programme of Physical Education is undertaken, which includes basketball, football, girls’ netball, cricket, athletics, fitness, cross country running, tennis and swimming. Pupils who study Physical Education GCSE can choose to be assessed on sports as varied as table-tennis, dance, trampolining and even skiing.

The Cross Country Competition, Swimming Gala and Sports Day are popular events in the annual school calendar. Our most talented players regularly represent the school in matches against other local schools and in wider borough and London-wide competitions.

From time to time on activity camps and trips, pupils have the chance to sample less mainstream sports such as canoeing, sailing, climbing, abseiling and bowling.

Jenna’s Story

Jenna achieved A* in Religious Studies and PE, As in English, Maths and Double Science and Bs in Drama, ICT and Spanish, exceptional results considering she was also training 20+ hours a week as a gymnast. Currently rated 12th in Great Britain, Jenna won overall Silver in the English Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships recently, as well as Gold on the beam, Silver on bars and Bronze on floor. Jenna keeps up her link with Thames and assists with Sports classes and takes Dance & Movement classes for some of the sessions.

It is pleasing to find a school where competitive sport is still encouraged. I think it is a vital part of learning
