Drama is an integral part of the curriculum and the ability to speak confidently in public is the norm for all our pupils, both in classroom debates and in front of a wider audience. Drama is a popular option in Key Stage 4 with the opportunity to study for the Grade 4-6 exams offered by the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
Opportunities for pupils to perform occur regularly, both in small groups and in larger productions, with the Drama Club always oversubscribed. Pupils have successfully auditioned for the National Youth Theatre. Individual Voice and Speech lessons are also offered as part of the extra-curricular programme available at the school.
Alice's Story
Alice achieved an excellent set of GCSE results, attaining 2.7 grades higher than her CATs predictions. As well as A* in Art, she attained As in Religious Studies and Spanish, and achieved a total of 10 A*-C passes. A talented actress, singer and dancer, she successfully auditioned for Performance Preparation Academy, a top independent performing arts college which shares facilities with Guildford School of Acting.
Creative subjects are a strength of the school and these enhance students' cultural development through regular drama productions, after-school clubs in music and art and theatre visits.
