Our small class sizes ensure that each child receives the necessary individual attention, stretching the academic high-flyers and supporting those who may need a bit of extra help; pupils flourish in this nurturing environment.

Our aim is that all pupils fulfil their potential at Thames, whatever their level of academic ability. Many of our pupils are academically gifted, some are gifted artistically, creatively or in sport. Some of our gifted pupils have the opportunity to take GCSE exams early before going on to study AS level in Year 11.

Others have gifts that have yet to be realised. We believe that almost every child is good at something, but may need that little extra help and support in drawing out their potential.

At Thames we expect, and almost always see, achievement beat the expected average by a substantial margin, based on standard prediction tests. Typically pupils perform at least one or two grades and in some cases over three grades higher than their starting point across all subjects.
